A New LAN Expansion Board (supporting Gbit Ethernet and PoE/PoE+) has been released.

LINEEYE Co., LTD. has released a new LAN Expansion Board, OP-SB89 (which supports Gbit Ethernet and PoE/PoE+ measurement and dedicated to LE-8200/LE-8200A) on May 28.

1. Background

PoE is used to supply power to devices such as network cameras, access points of wireless LAN, and IP telephone, which tend to be installed at places where power supply is not nearby.

OP-SB89 of LINEEYE supports measurement of LAN Data on 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and of PoE. However, support for measurement of Gigabit Ethernet(1000Base-TX) and PoE+ has been strongly needed.

2. Outline

OP-SB89G is an expansion board to be installed to expansion slot of LE-8200/LE-8200A, which supports the measurement and test of Gigabit Ethernet, along with the measurement of PoE and PoE+. You can monitor data frames with highly accurate timestamps and also can transmit any data frame at wire rate to execute a stress test. A utility software to utilize monitored data on PC is attached. OP-SB89G is the latest option with which you can use LE-8200A/LE-8200 as a high-performance stand-alone LAN analyzer on the occasions such as development of devices, installation of devices, and troubleshooting etc.

3. Feature

  1. It records packets of Gbit Ethernet with timestamps of 40ns at minimum on FPGA of the board.
  2. Measurement by direct tap connection of devices of PoE/PoE+ is possible.
  3. Fail-safe design to maintain the communication between devices when power of the analyzer turns off
  4. Easy to execute a stress test of a network by transmitting test packets at any line bit rate up to 1Gbps
  5. You can convert a captured log to .pcap file (for Ethereal / Wireshark) by using an attached utility software.
  6. Graph display of time-series change of communication traffic and number of error packets etc.
