Guide on Updating the Firmware of LE-8200 to support Modbus (version 1.11)

LINEEYE has released the latest firmware (ver1.11) of LE-8200.
The latest firmware supports Modbus protocol for field bus, and improves RTS/CTS flow control for Bit Error Rate Test.
If you have been using the ex-version, please update to the latest version.

[ Update Information ]

  1. Support Modbus protocol
    Previous firmware can measure Modbus data in HEX. However, it cannot judge the acceptance of frame check code, and
    when it reaches to high-speed, it cannot know the frame end. The latest firmware can detect the idle time for 35
    characters and know the frame end even in the high-speed Modbus communication.

    Support Modbus-ASCII and Modbus-RTU data format. It automatically starts the LRC/CRC frame check according to the data
    format, and know the errors and error triggers.

    HEX display and also translation display of address and function are available.

    Diverge Modbus communication on RS-485 line and measure by the analyzer.
    • Simulation function of MODBUS
      Improve followings for Manual and Program modes.
      • Add CRC/LRC according to MODBUS specification when adding BCC/FCS by table editor.
      • ADD CRC/LRC according to MODBUS specification when adding CRC/LRC automatically such as "SEND CHR" command of Program simulation.
      • Do not send fixed data (FOX, MSG1 etc.) which does not follow MODBUS specification.
      • For RTS mode, add delay time for 3.5 characters or more before transmitting frames automatically.
      LINEEYE does not warrant other simulation modes.
  2. Support RTS/CTS flow control for BERT.
    Transmit test patterns only RTS is active for DCE mode, or only CTS is active for DTE mode.
    It makes it possible to have BERT for non-communication unit which needs to have a flow control.
  3. Add information of analyzer in the measured data.
    Add information of analyzer (model, serial number, firmware version) in the measured data to differentiate data measured by different model of analyzers.
    This information will be added in front of text conversion data or print-out data. Also, it is possible to check this information from property of PC link software, LE-PC800G (Ver1.04 or later).

  4. Other Improvements/ Bug Correction.
    • Improve timing of accessing to the CF card.
    • Reverse the position of "NS" and "NR"in the title of LrLAP text conversion.
    • Correct the bug that data includes ITB character are not added (BCC) by table editor.
    • Correct the bug that "P-Type:DIAG" is displayed as "PR:7" by X.25 packet translation display.
    • Correct a minor bug of starting transmission of sequential trigger.
    • Correct a minor bug of program editor for PROGRAM mode.
    • Correct a minor bug of remote monitor.

Please download the latest firmware from our Website.

Software for transferring firmware "LE8FIRM" is also available from our Website.

Refer to the"LE8FIRM.TXT" document in the utility CD and transfer the latest firmware to the analyzer.
